Audco Italiana’s Y type strainers are filtration devices designed to capture debris and solid particles, protecting downstream components such as pumps, meters, and control valves. These strainers ensure reliable operation while reducing plant maintenance costs.
Technical Description
The Y type strainer features a robust Y shaped body housing a fine perforated sheet mesh (typically stainless steel) positioned at a 45 degree angle to optimize flow dynamics and minimize pressure drop. The fluid enters through the inlet, passes through the mesh—where solids are trapped—and exits through the outlet. Maintenance is performed via the cover or drain port.
Available in carbon steel, stainless steel (AISI 304/316), or special alloys such as duplex for corrosive fluids, they comply with standards including ASME B16.34, API 598, and flange ratings from PN10 to PN100 or ANSI 150–2500 lbs.
The closure cover may be threaded or bolted depending on the pressure rating.

In oil & gas applications, they handle hydrocarbons, natural gas, and multiphase flows up to 400°C and 100 bar, with sizes ranging from ½" to 36", typically forged up to 2" and cast for sizes above 2".
